Susitna Elementary School is a diverse learning community committed to the success of all learners as they become knowledgeable, responsible, and caring citizens." Susitna offers two educational programs: a traditional neighborhood program and an Open Optional program. We have K-5 neighborhood classrooms and six Open Optional multi-age classrooms.
All students benefit from having a full-time nurse, and the offering of art, music, physical education, library, and technology. Special education, English Language Learner (ELL), IGNITE (gifted), and Speech/Language services are provided on-site, and facilitated through in-class, small group, and individualized instruction, as needed. We endeavor to provide a strong Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) foundation.
We encourage parent involvement and have several active business partnerships, including Subway Alaska and Carr's Safeway. Our school serves as a community center for after-school programs, including JEC.
